Save the date for Wednesday, May 23, 2018, from 10-11 a.m. Pacific for a special monthly CoP meeting on CHWs and substance abuse.

Mary Catlin, BSN, BA, MPH, CIC, shares her deep expertise to discuss how you can train and employ CHWs to address substance abuse issues. Mary works work for Washington State DOH to help institutions reduce opioid related deaths through safe prescribing and access to medications to treat opioid use disorder. She worked for decades with community health workers in Africa, Asia, Latin American and the Middle East.

Iowa’s First C.O.R.E. Training Program for Community Health Workers

This was the first ever C.O.R.E. Training for CHWs held  last March 2017 hosted by the Iowa Chronic Care Consortium (ICCC) and made possible in part by a grant from the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation.

C.O.R.E. stands for “Coaching, Outreach, Relationship, Engagement”. This year’s training was “intended to gather current frontline health workers for learning, information sharing, and networking.”
